Careers by Design

About 1/3 of graduating studentsin Japan quit their job after 3 years of employment.

Perhaps this employment mismatch demonstrates a lack of planning, forethought and focus. To help avoid this mismatch, UMDS helps you design your career from the 1styear of your university studies. With a good plan and a career by design, a better and more fulfilling career and life is possible.

1st year

Learning About Yourself - Setting Goals

Learn the rules of the road and learn about your strengths and weaknesses
Starting Your Career

We begin by teaching students what it means to be a student learning business as well as the rules of business and the university at large. We also strongly encourage self-learning to help students come to terms with their goals and dreams.

Certification Support

Certificates can be very useful when trying to find a job in the future.
UMDS helps students find and acquire the correct certifications for their chosen career.

2nd year

Self-growth - Self Analysis・Goal Setting

Gaining professional skills

Career Development Fundamentals

Through self-analysis students think about their future as a business person.
We also encourage study about the basics of employment and the management of a company.

Practical Career Development [Internships]

We provide internships with over 130 companies. By working as interns, students learn responsibility and the ability to communicate with others. Though internships, they also learn more about their career preferences for the future.

Seminars [Practical Research]

Students can deepen their area of study with a series of seminars that are run with small numbers of attendees. Professors help to open the doors to industries and companies they are connected to. By working together with colleagues in seminars, many students build life-long friendships too.

3rd year

Job Hunting Preparedness - Corporate Research

Gain skills that will help you to develop and advance your career.
 Practical Career Development

Through group discussions or interview rehearsals, students learn how to express themselves in a professional manner. Students accumulate knowledge from lectures given by companies and business seminars. We often match students and companies through internships. Internships help students to hone in on careers that interest them in hopes that they will find the right career path.

Corporate Presentations on Campus

UMDS regularly invites over 100 companies to make presentations. Students can attend several corporate presentations in a day in their own classrooms. They are also encouraged to speak up and ask questions to the presenters. Many students even get employment offers due to the connections they make at these important presentations.

Job hunting officially starts now.
We support students with a variety of seminars and career courses.
