| May 1979 | Isao Nakauchi announced the establishment of a university of distribution-related university. |
| March 1984 | The plan to establish the University of Marketing and Distribution Sciences (UMDS) (tentatively named) was developed. |
| June 1985 | Founders' meeting for Establishing Foundation of UMDS was held and Isao Nakauchi was selected as its representative. |
| January 1986 | "Establishing Foundation of UMDS" was authorized and registered. |
| December 1987 | Articles of incorporation for Nakauchi Gakuen Educational Institution was approved, and the establishment of UMDS was approved. |
| January 1988 | Nakauchi Gakuen Educational Institution was founded and registered. |
| December 1991 | Change in articles of incorporation was approved and the establishment of Faculty of Information Science and Technology was approved. |
| April 1988 | UMDS established with Faculty of Commerce (Department of Distribution /Department of Business Management) |
| April 1992 | Faculty of Information Science and Technology (Department of Economic Information / Department of Information and Management) established |
| December 1993 | Change in articles of incorporation was approved and the establishment of Faculty of Commerce (Department of Finance / Department of Service Industry) was approved. |
| April 1994 | Faculty of Commerce (Department of Finance / Department of Service Industry) established |
| December 1995 | Change in articles of incorporation was approved and the establishment of Graduate School (Distribution Science Research Course) was authorized. |
| April 1996 | Graduate School (Distribution Science Research Course: Master’s degree) established |
| September 1997 | Nakauchi Memorial Hall (present Nakauchi Hall) was completed (as a part of the 10th anniversary celebration.) |
| December 1997 | The establishment of Graduate School (Distribution Science Research Course: Doctorate degree) was approved. |
| April 1998 | Graduate School (Distribution Science Research Course: Doctorate degree) established |
| August 1998 | Fujiwaradai Seminar House was completed. |
| April 2001 | Faculty of Service Industries (Department of Tourism・Lifestyle / Department of Medical & Welfare) established |
| March 2005 | Abolition of Department of Service Industry in Faculty of Commerce |
| April 2006 | Athletics Building was completed (as a part of the 20th anniversary celebration.) |
| September 2006 | Nakauchi Hall was established. |
| September 2006 | Distribution Resource Center was established. |
| July 2007 | Lecture Building 6 was completed (as a part of the 20th anniversary celebration.) |
| August 2008 | The second Club House was completed. |
| October 2009 | UMDS Baseball Stadium was completed. |
| April 2010 | School song "Kobe no Kaze wa" was made. |
| June 2010 | Nakauchi Hall was renewed. |
| January 2011 | Osaka Office was moved (to 8F, Herbis Osaka Office Tower.) |
