I have been interested in hotel management and tourism since my childhood, as my father runs a hotel in Taiwan. I came to feel, through learning tourism here, that it is essential to understand human-to-human and culture-to-culture relationships to get involved in the tourism business.
Therefore, I participate in international exchange events held by UMDS whenever possible to socialize with students not only from Japan but from abroad.
At the school festival, I had a chance to introduce Taiwanese language and culture. I would like to serve as a bridge between Taiwan and Japan through tourism.
To make as many Japanese friends as possible while studying in Japan, I became a member of UMDS PR club. I also take the opportunity of introducing Korea at the “Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Association” club, and go between Korean and Japanese students.
I have a lot of Japanese friends now and we are going on a trip to Korea next vacation. I am looking forward to taking them to various spots in my home country. I could overcome homesickness through friendship, which I will cherish forever.
The other day, I gave a presentation on TPP together with Japanese students, as a group work assigned in the course of the class. It was very nice to interact with my classmates and did a making research together.
Bus tours and other programs held by the Center of Asian Retailing and Distribution for Research and Exchange provide opportunities to make friends with students from other nations.
As I have been accustomed to study and life here in the second year, I joined the music circle. I am a total beginner, and I would like to master some instruments, asking for the instructions from other Japanese members.
Attractive academic environments where international and Japanese students learn together made me decide to enter UMDS.
At first, I was puzzled by Japanese expressions and technical terms as well as Chinese characters even though teachers used simple wording for international students to understand.
It was at that time when I knew about Learning Assistance Center and knocked on its door. Teachers and staff there kindly advised me, which made me feel better. Now I manage to follow the class and find learning much more fun.
I have been actively attending the job hunting guidance, SPI seminar and job interview practice session held by Career Center since last June. I still consult teachers at the center when I do not know what to do, and they always give me kind advice.
Thanks to their support, I could proceed with job hunting with confidence and aspiration. I will continue my efforts to find a job appropriate for my aptitude and desire.
It is essential to gather necessary information by ourselves to live and study at university in Japan. Center of Asian Retailing and Distribution for Research and Exchange and our teachers give us useful information, which is very helpful.
Computers and printers are available at the Media Center, and we can make use of them for study or job hunting.
I intend to work for the Japanese distribution industry to gain enough experience so as to contribute to economic evelopment in China.
A senior from my high school who was studying at UMDS told me about excellent student support system and campus facilities of UMDS. That is why I chose UMDS. Other than my high school friend, many Vietnamese students are studying here and tell me a lot about Japan.
My goal is to find a job in the Japanese retail industry. Scholarships offered by UMDS for those who are interested in retailing industry will work favorably for my future career. I am going to work harder to gain the scholarship and make my dream come true.
My athletic ability and talent in ball sports were recognized by the university and I became a member of the basketball club. I have been sticking to it as an only international player.
This membership allowed me to make many friends to study or have fun with, which made my study here really fruitful.
I would like to find a job at a Japanese-affiliated company, taking advantage of experience and physical strength which I have gained through my club activity. I continue to drive myself forward in study, current and future life without giving up anything I want.
In my second year of undergraduate, I received a privilege to join a special English class and had a chance to study in the US for half a year funded by scholarship. In addition to learning English, I could observe the situation of general merchandise stores or fast food chains there. I also had an invaluable experience of deepening friendship with students from other nations.
Based on the theoretical knowledge and practical experience gained in master’s course so far, I am going to analyze and study Japanese domestic distribution system and issues in the market from various angles.
